OTI Receives Additional Orders In Poland

On Track Innovations (OTI) announced that its subsidiary, ASEC in Poland, will provide the Transport Department of the City of Warsaw with additional public transportation and street parking contactless tickets. Following Warsaw, the programme is expanding to other cities in Poland including Gdynia, Plock and Rybnik. The orders are for more than US$500,000 and delivery is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

20 Million PayPass Devices Issued

MasterCard announced the issuance of the 20 millionth MasterCard PayPass device globally. PayPass is now accepted at more than 80,000 merchants in 20 countries. This latest milestone is consistent with the results of a “Global Cash Usage Survey” conducted in 2007 by KRC Research and commissioned by MasterCard, designed to gauge global attitudes towards the use of cash versus alternate payment methods as well as to determine consumer interest in using new technologies such as contactless payment technology.

IBM Teams With METRO For RFID Implementations

IBM announced that it is continuously working with METRO Group to implement RFID technology to improve the availability of products in its stores, enhance consumers' shopping experience and boost supply chain performance. The companies are successfully using RFID in a system which tracks shipments from suppliers to warehouses, distribution centres and stores. The companies are also teaming up for an innovative customer-focused RFID project in one of METRO's Galeria Kaufhof departmental stores.

PNL Advanced Logistics Services With Savi Networks

PNL Networks (PNL), the technology arm of global logistics service provider PNL Group, announced that it has contracted with Savi Networks to enable PNL to offer its customers advanced logistics services, based on wireless monitoring technology. IPICO RFID Tags For South African Vehicles

IPICO and its South African BEE partner, IPICO Africa announced that they have received an initial order for 600,000 UHF RFID tags for vehicle registration number plates to be deployed in the Gauteng province, South Africa. The order marks a significant breakthrough into the global transportation industry, one of the most important markets for IPICO's passive UHF RFID tags and readers which can be used to identify vehicles, licence discs and number plates.
