Contactless Cards Now Accepted At All KFCs In Malaysia
Customers dining at any of KFC's 402 restaurants in Malaysia will be able to pay for their favourite meals with their credit or debit payment cards. Approximately 150 outlets in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and East Malaysia are already equipped to accept payment cards, with all remaining outlets enabled by the end of H1 2008. Also announced was the availability of MasterCard PayPass contactless payment at KFC outlets, which will allow customers with PayPass-enabled MasterCard cards to “tap and go” when making purchases. This will also be made available at all KFC outlets by the end of Q1 2008. “The acceptance of all payment cards and MasterCard PayPass is in line with KFC's goals to continuously look for new and innovative ways to bring value to their customers,” said Azizah Abdul Rahman, Director, Poultry Integration & Food Manufacturing, KFC Holdings Malaysia. “This exercise marks a new milestone for us, and the early feedback we've received from customers tell us that they value the convenience of using their payment cards at our outlets, particularly for large ticket items.” “As the country's leading quick-service restaurant chain, we understand the importance of our customers' time, and accepting payment cards provides an obvious benefit to them when paying for purchases.” “Further, the introduction of PayPass terminals at our counters will give our customers who are MasterCard cardholders the opportunity to order their food and pay for it very quickly, without needing to search for cash and wait for change. While most customers are quite happy to spend time choosing their favourite KFC meal, they want to be able to pay quickly. With their PayPass-enabled MasterCard, they can now do this,” Azizah added. With PayPass, customers no longer need to pay in cash or even hand their card over to a cashier for purchases. Cardholders simply tap their PayPass-enabled card on the reader and are on their way. “KFC's decision to accept payment cards, including PayPass contactless payment solution demonstrates the company's continued focus on improving the customer experience at their outlets,” said Jim Cheah, VP & Senior Country Manager, Malaysia & Brunei, MasterCard. “This is a remarkable development for the quick-service restaurant industry, by enabling customers to pay for purchases either by payment cards, or even better to just 'tap and go' when making purchases, keeping lines short and moving more customers through their purchases faster,” Jim added. CIMB Bank, who is the acquirer bank, is enabling all KFC outlets around Malaysia for the acceptance of payment cards and PayPass.
